Installation guide for
IBOS MusicXmlReader 5.0.0.0
Table of Contents
IBOS MusicXmlReader Version 5.0.0.0 is primarily tested with:
• Windows 10
• JAWS 2022
• Braille display types: "Humanware Braillant" and "Freedom Scientific FOCUS 14"
The program will probably also work with other versions of Windows, JAWS - and with most other Braille Displays. But this is not thoroughly tested!
For demonstration purposes, primarily for people without a vision impairment, the program can also be run without JAWS and Braille display, but a very large part of its functionality will of course not be available.
IBOS MusicXmlReader also assumes that the user is capable of navigating in a standard Windows program, and especially is familiar with the following Windows Forms controls:
• Menu bar
• "Open" dialog
• List view
• Tree view with checkbox.
"IBOS Music Reader" is distributed in the form of the distribution file:
"IBOS MusicXmlReader 5.0.0.0.zip"
If the distribution file is distributed as a link to a website and the link does not work immediately, the link should simply be copied to the web browser's address bar, after which it is activated by pressing "Return"
The distribution file contains all relevant documentation as well as the actual installation file:
"IBOS MusicXmlReader 5.0.0.0.Setup.exe"
Once the distribution file is downloaded and opened, you can proceed with the setup process itself:
Start "IBOS MusicXmlReader.5.0.0.0.Setup.exe" and accept the suggested options.
The installer offers to launch IBOS MusicXmlReader to complete the installation process. Alternatively, you can start IBOS MusicXmlReader later as any other Windows program, and even define a keyboard shortcut.
When "IBOS MusicXmlReader" is installed, you should proceed immediately with JAWS setup. This is necessary to get the right experience from the beginning of the interaction between "IBOS MusicXmlReader" and JAWS!
If you want to use IBOS MusicXmlReader together with a Braille display, you need to change a few JAWS settings immediately after the installation of IBOS Music reader. These changes are made ONLY for IBOS Music reader and thus have no influence on JAWS' behaviour with respect to other programs.
Even if you do not want to use IBOS MusicXmlReader together with a Braille display, it is recommended that you do the following, so there are no problems later!
1. Start JAWS
2. Start IBOS MusicXmlReader and give the program focus
3. Press INSERT + F2 to start "JAWS Manager"
4. Select SettingsCenter and press to display the "Add New Configuration" dialog box.
5. Select OK. This will start "JAWS Setup Center-IBOS MusicXmlReader"
Then make the following changes in the JAWS settings for "IBOS MusicXmlReader"

The contents of the current JAWS settings file for IBOS Node reader can be inspected under
Tools-> Open JAWS Settings.
Hereby, IBOS node reader is installed and ready for use.
The installation file contains some MusicXml files that are immediately available. These files are automatically copied to the user's private folder
"Documents \ IBOS MusicXmlReader \ Examples"
and contain examples of, among other things
• Simple one voice melodies
• 4-voice SATB choir pieces
• 20-voice orchestra scores
IBOS MusicXmlReader can be used with other tools for handling musical scores.
For example, the free note writing program MuseScore, which can be downloaded from
https://musescore.org/en
Similarly, a 30-day free demo version of Sibelius can be downloaded from
http://connect.avid.com/Sibelius-Trial.html
In a similar way test versions of the note-editors “Capella” and “Finale NotePad” can be downloaded and installed.
Starting with IBOS MusicXmlReader version 5.0.0.0 the programs “PhotoScore” and “Braille Music Editor 2” are supported in the same way.
IBOS Music reader expects that these programs are installed in their default locations
C:\Program Files\MuseScore 3\bin\MuseScore3.exe
C:\Program Files\Avid\Sibelius\Sibelius.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\capella-software\capella 8\bin\capella.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Neuratron\PhotoScore + NotateMe Ultimate 2020\Neuratron PhotoScore.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bme2\bme2.exe
If for some reason, these programs are not installed in their default locations, it is possible to set up their paths from “Settings” → “General Settings”
Please note that the tool “IBOS Music Braille Reader”, which is introduced with “IBOS MusicXmlReader” version 5.0.0.0 is integrated within “IBOS MusicXmlReader” and thus does not require a separate installation
